In addition to reading every night, I encourage you to work on sight words with your child. These words are also known as high frequency words and are words that appear the most often in text. When students know these words without having to sound them out, they build fluency which allows them to focus on comprehension. You can use flashcards, look for sight words in books, or have your child practice writing the words in a sentence. See the file below for some fun activities you can do to practice sight words.
